Lady Gaga wins over a frightened young fan with a twirl at Toronto airport
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER Overwhelmed: Lady Gaga poses with a shell-shocked young fan as she leaves Toronto airport today
It's said that you should never meet your idols, and that's a maxim that certainly seemed to apply for a young Lady Gaga fan in Toronto today.
The adorable youngster didn't seem to know whether to be delighted or scared by the pop superstar when she encountered her at the airport.
Gaga, real name Stefani Germanotta, was as always, dressed up to the nines in bright colours and an extravagant turquoise wig.Wary: Gaga in her colourful attire and wig is obviously quite a scary prospect for a little one
The overall effect seemed a bit overwhelming for the little one, who seemed as much shell-shocked as star-struck.
But it was the New Yorker's scary pointed talons that made this little girl wonder if she was meeting the evil queen rather than a Disney princess.
However, the 25-year-old sensation managed to turn the encounter around by gently unleashing some of her trademark dance moves.Cautious: The little girl seems wary of Gaga's long red talons
Bending down to replicate the child's height, Gaga tenderly offered her terrifying talons to the little girl.
The child kept a safe difference as she weighed up the character directly in front of her, as if wondering if it was safe to get closer.
Of course, once Gaga had managed to coax her nearer, she didn't offer her a poison apple, but twirled the little girl like she was Cinderella at a ball.
Confidence won, Gaga was then treated to cuddles as the child's gobsmacked parents snapped away on their camera.
The Born This Way star was leaving Toronto after performing at the MuchMusic Video Awards there this weekend.Twirl: But the pop diva is soon amuses the younger by showing her a few trademark dance moves
For the performance the singer emerged from a cocoon, a stunt she has pulled twice already, which has prompted fans and critics alike to speculate that she's finally run out of ideas.
She entered the stage via the egg-like cocoon, just as she did at the Grammy Awards in February this year - she also popped out of a chamber during a performance on Saturday Night Live late last month.Covered up again: Gaga seems to be moving away from the revealing outfits she's so often favoured
This time however the contraption was suspended above the ground, whereas the previous two crysalis-esque devices were laid down horizontally on the ground.
For the duration of her appearance on the Canadian awards show, Gaga remained relatively covered up in comparison to her usual outrageous get up.
And she maintained that look for her trip home, by donning the long bright dress that stunned the youngster.

Born again (for the third time)... Lady Gaga hatches from another egg-like cocoon during the MuchMusic Video Awards
By CHRIS JOHNSON Suspend your belief: Lady Gaga emerges from a hanging cocoon during rehearsals for the MuchMusic Video Awards in Canada
Could Lady Gaga be running out of ideas for her stage shows?
The pop superstar emerged from a cocoon during her performance at the MuchMusic Video Awards in Toronto, Canada this weekend, a stunt she has pulled twice already.
Gaga, 25, was at the event to perform some of her recent hits, including Edge Of Glory, and to pick up two awards.Just hanging around: The cocoon was suspended in the air
She entered the stage via the egg-like cocoon, just as she did at the Grammy Awards in February this year - she also popped out of a chamber during a performance on Saturday Night Live late last month.Doing it for real: Gaga on stage during the actual awards show
This time however the contraption was suspended above the ground, whereas the previous two crysalis-esque devices were laid down horizontally on the ground.
For the duration of her appearance on the Canadian awards show, Gaga remained relatively covered up in comparison to her usual outrageous get up.Similar entrance: The superstar singer popped out of an egg-like contraption at the Grammy awards in February
By Lady Gaga standards, her ensembles were positively demure.
In fact the Queen of shocktastic fashion and barely-there outfits turned out to the ceremony with much more material per square inch than usual.
Despite changing into an array of outfits, the 25-year-old singer kept relatively covered up - which was perhaps something to do with the slightly fuller figure she was seen to be sporting as she arrived.
Paunch: Lady Gaga revealed a slightly fuller figure as she arrived the the MuchMusic Video Awards in Canada tonight in a tight LBD teamed with dominatrix-style bootsMaking an entrance: The singer opened the show with a performance on Edge of Glory, staying relatively covered up in a bejewelled catsuit
The Edge of Glory star, who won two awards at the event, turned up at the ceremony in Toronto, Canada, in a form-fitting little black dress which showed a more curvy shape around her midsection.
Last year Gaga's former tour manager, David Ciemny, claimed that the star would starve herself to fit into her revealing stage outfits.
He alleged the singer would go on unhealthy food binges before barely eating in a bid to slim down - saying she once lost 20lbs between fittings.Got it all covered: The superstar singer remained relatively demure in comparison to her usual guises
Covering up: We're used to seeing the singer in barely-there outfits and skimpy underwear
Earlier this month, Gaga left very little to the imagination as she partied at the CFDA Fashion Awards in a see-through black body stocking in New York.
But tonight was a relatively low-key affair for Gaga, who remained relatively covered in her series of outfits.
She opened the show with a performance of Edge of Glory wearing a bejewelled black catsuit, before closing the event with a rendition of Born This Way.Colourful: She made an outfit change to accept international video of the year for Judas, keeping her flesh under wraps in a printed trouser and jacket combo teamed with her turquoise wig
In a nod to her Grammys performance, Gaga hatched out of an egg, but was kept her flesh under wraps in black trousers and a dramatic ruffled feathered top half.
She stripped her top off in the last minute of the song, but kept her midriff out of sight with her high-waisted, belted trousers.
Earlier in the show she accepted an award, wearing another body covering outfit, a colourful trouser and jacket combo, complete with her turquoise wig.She eventually de-robed, but rather than a skimpy two-piece the singer was wearing black trousers and buttoned up jacket which revealed a hint of cleavage
The singer was voted the most popular international artist in the fan category, while also taking home the best international video for Judas.
Bieber was the other big winner of the night, joining his girlfriend and host of the event Selena Gomez on stage to accept his two gongs.
The 17-year-old star was voted the favourite artist by ordinary Canadians for his video Somebody to Love, which also features Usher.
He was honoured in the best international Canadian video category for the same video, although shared the award with hip hop star Drake.

Rachel McAdamsand Michael Sheenwho are co-stars in Woody Allen's new film, "Midnight in Paris," have confirmed they are dating, following months of speculation.
"We spent our nights really laughing, and walking around Paris, Notre Dame is my favorite spot, and having great meals. It was a great way to get to know anyone," Sheen told Us Weekly. "Rachel McAdams's the most wonderful person I know. We got to know each other on set, it was an amazing time. We've been a couple for a while now."
The British actor also said that Rachel McAdams is a "fantastic actress" and the pair have already begun working together again in director Terrence Malick's next project, which is currently filming in Louisiana.
"We love going to little diners, out of the way places, so we found some great little spots out in Louisiana," Sheen said. "My favorite meal is breakfast!"Rachel McAdams and Sheen made their first red carpet appearance as a couple at the Cannes Film Festival on Wednesday for the premiere of "Midnight in Paris."
Rachel McAdams stars opposite Owen Wilson in the film, which tells the tale of an engaged couple, who travel to Paris and while McAdams gets charmed by the repugnant intellectual Paul (Sheen), Gil (Wilson) wanders the streets of Paris and finds himself traveling back in time to the 1920s each night, to the very era he's romanticized.Last November, Sheen was photographed holding hands with Rachel McAdams in Toronto, fueling rumors that the two were dating. They were also spotted together at an after party at the Toronto International Film Festival.Sheen comes across as being quite smitten by the actress, who sparked engagement rumors recently when McAdams was spotted wearing what looked like an engagement ring, but Sheen's rep denied to E! News.
"She's a genuinely lovely lady as well as being stunningly beautiful and very talented," Sheen, 42, told "Entertainment Tonight Canada" of McAdams, 34, People reports.
Meanwhile, McAdams told Elle magazine recently that her parent's happy marriage made her disillusioned with what love is.
"You grow up and you assume that everyone is like that, and you quickly realize that they're not," Rachel McAdams told Elle magazine recently. "And then you have those days when you wonder if you're going to find it for yourself. It's such a hard thing to find. I think it was more that realization that rocked me." Climate change is threatening archaeological sites in N.W.T.'s Mackenzie Delta, says University of Toronto professor Max Friesen. Pingos in N.W.T.'s Mackenzie Delta are unmistakeable evidence of permafrost activity

due to climate change is endangering archaeological sites in the area
[Credit: Karen McColl]He says thawing permafrost is endangering sites and artifacts dating back thousands of years.
"Instead of having the archaeological remains and the houses and whatnot being stable, they're actually eroding out of the cliff face," he said.
"As you walk along the beach, you can actually see all the artifacts, animal bones, and even pieces of houses that are slumping down the slope and will eventually wash out into the ocean."
Friesen says researchers need to act quickly and prioritize which sites should be excavated before their contents are destroyed.

North America: Archaeologists say climate change is destroying Arctic artefacts
Archaeologists say climate change is destroying the historical record of the Arctic people. The artefacts being received by the University of Alaska Fairbanks’s Museum of the North are more deteriorated than those unearthed decades ago, curator and professor Josh Reuther told KUAC, and he attributes that to the changing climate. “It’s kind of a whole series of problems coming together at the same time to sort of create a perfect storm,” said Max Friesen, a University of Toronto archaeologist working on a dig in Canada’s Northwest Territories.

Friesen said he’s alarmed by the rapid deterioration. Until recently, he said, organic artefacts made of materials like wood or animal hides, were abundant around the region because they were preserved by permafrost or silty soils.
“It’s a very rich data base that’s being lost all across the Arctic,” he said.

That Thing You Do?
Just DoThing!
See that? See what I did there with the headline? Clever huh *insert cricket noise and tumble weed here. Moving on…uber-talented Australian lad Joel Edgerton is set star in a remake of The Thing. The Hollywood remake is said to be a remake of John Carpetner’s `82 version of The Thing which was a remake of the Howard Hanks’ `51 film The Thing From Another World which was a take on the `38 short Who Goes There?
If you lead a more exciting life then I, a fun game could be played involving a shot of whiskey every time I use the word `remake’. An even funner game would be a shot every time Hollywood did another remake (shot!) which would have you in a medically induced coma in 45 minute… approximately.
Remake (shot!) negativity aside, I’m actually semi-excited about this, mainly because Edgerton (below) is involved and frankly, I consider him a bit of a multi-talented, cinematic genius. Did I mention his most recent film Animal Kingdom picked up the Grand Jury Prize at Sundance? And don’t even get me started on The Square. The Thing follows a shape-shifting alien who terrorizes a group of people in Antarctica. Sounds a bit like the first Alien Vs Predator to me, but less shit.
Mary Elizabeth Winstead will co-star, which is good if she behaves like she did in Death Proof and frightening if she pulls a Make It Happen. Her character is a PhD candidate (cough) who joins a Norwegian research team in Antarctica after it discovers an alien ship in the ice. When the trapped organism is freed and begins a series of attacks, she is forced to team up with a blue-collar mercenary helicopter pilot (Edgerton) to stop the rampage.
Dutch producer Matthijs Van Heijningen makes his directorial debut with The Thing which begins filming on May 15 in Toronto. No word yet on a release date or 3D inclinations.
