  • Mirror Image!

    Mirror Image!

I had the sick for most of this week. One afternoon while i was laying on the couch, Avery our little mommy decided to make a project with Mitchell. She sat him down and got him set up with markers and paper and then started having a funny, very Avery conversation with him. I just listened and waited. I hear her ask him if he knew why it was Easter and why that was important, and proceeded to explain it to him as only a 5 year old can do. Well, she told him that she thought that he should draw a picture of Jesus. Well, this is Jesus. Mine is on the gray felt and his is on paper. Complete with long hair. I loved it, and it made me laugh. finally his drawings are starting to look like something. I wanted to keep it forever. It has been sitting on my sewing table for a few days now and i have wanted to do something but did not know what. I took out my free quilting foot for my machine and then "freehanded" his drawing on fabric with thread. It was not too hard, fortunately he is not a complicated artist. I think it turned out better than i thought it would. I think i will try this more with some of their other drawings. It works great for these kind of stick figures. Now am i going to frame it or make it part of a quilt or pillow for him....hmmm?

Raw grief of Jackass star's best friend: Heartbreaking video shows inconsolable Bam Margera as he visits spot where Ryan Dunn died in fiery crash
    By DAILY MAIL REPORTER
©Heartbroken: Bam Margera returns to the spot where his best friend and Jackass co-star lost his life in a horrific car smash in the early hours of Monday morning in Philadelphia
Autopsy results reveal the crash was so violent it's impossible to determine if Dunn and passenger died from impact or from the fire that resulted
Photo emerges showing stuntman in high spirits whilst he partied at a bar shortly before crash
Co-star and best friend Bam Margera overcome with emotion as he visits crash scene
Ryan Dunn's Jackass co-star Bam Margera broke down into floods of tears as he visited the spot where his best friend lost his life in a horror 130mph car smash.
An inconsolable Bam spoke to a local news station and was so distraught he could barely put his loss into words.
'It was the worst phone call I ever got in my life waking up to that,' the 31-year-old wept.
©Raw grief: Bam could barely hold it together as he gave an interview to a local news station
Margera, who was in Arizona at the time of the crash, visited the crash scene in Philadelphia on Tuesday evening.
He was visibly overcome with emotion, rocking back and forth in agony at the guardrail that the car crashed through.
'I've never lost anybody that I cared about. It's my best friend,' he told local TV station WPXI, weeping.
©'Worst phone call of my life': He paid tribute to his childhood friend and asked how he would cope with the loss he wept: 'I can't, I can't'
'He was the happiest person ever, the smartest guy. He had so much talent, and he had so many things going for him. This is not right, not right.'
Margera stood at the guardrail that Dunn pierced with his Porsche Monday morning with such force that the car slammed through about 40 feet of trees before exploding into flames.
When asked how he'd get through this ordeal, Bam replied: 'I can't. I can't.'
Dunn's brother, Eric Dunn, said in an emailed statement to the AP that his family was 'devastated'.

©In good spirits: A new picture shows Jackass star Ryan Dunn in high spirits as he parties at a bar with friends and fans shortly before he crashed his Porsche yesterday morning, killing himself and another passenger

Investigation: Dunn's Porsche was found engulfed in flames in woods beside the road
Margera, who appeared in her son's MTV show 'Viva La Bam' with Dunn, says he was not the type of person to get behind the wheel while drunk.
'He is going to be missed by everyone,' April tearfully told the NBC Today Show.
'I have yelled at him for lots of things but he was not a big drinker and he was always responsible as far as I know, so I cannot believe he would do that.
'I am sick because it is a waste, sick because I loved him, sick because he was talented and sick because he is gone.'
Meanwhile the passenger killed in Dunn's fatal car crash has been identified.
Police have confirmed Zachary Hartwell, 30, perished in a fireball car crash in the early hours of yesterday morning.
Hartwell, from West Chester, Philadelphia, had been with Dunn at Barnaby's and appeared in one of the last photographs to be taken of the daredevil before the accident.
The two were drinking with a third unidentified male in a Twitter picture, which was posted hours before the accident.
©Speaking out: Bam Margera's mother April says she does not believe Dunn was driving drunk at the time of his death
While Hartwell was not a member of the Jackass crew, he is listed as a production assistant on the second Jackass movie.
He is also credited on IMDb as a 'car stunt driver' in Bam Margera's film Minghags.
He was reportedly a recently married Iraq war veteran
Dunn who was famous for his vulgar stunts in the multimillion-dollar TV and movie franchise Jackass, was driving his 2007 Porsche on a highway when it left the road, flipped over a guardrail and crashed into woods before bursting into flames.
Speed may have been a factor in the crash, West Goshen Township police said.
The force of impact shattered the vehicle into several twisted and blackened pieces, leaving the Porsche 911 GT3 unrecognisable except for a door that was thrown from the crash and not incinerated. A 100-foot-long tyre skid marked where the car left the road.
Police said they were able to identify Dunn through his tattoos and hair.
Dunn appeared on MTV shows Jackass and Viva La Bam and the three Jackass big-screen adaptations. He also was the star of his own MTV show, Homewrecker, and hosted Proving Ground on the G4 cable network.
G4 spokesman Dave Welch said Proving Ground, which premiered on June 11 with the second episode due to air today, was being shelved until the network could discuss its future.
Dunn's long-time friend and fellow Jackass daredevil Johnny Knoxville tweeted last night: 'Today I lost my brother Ryan Dunn. My heart goes out to his family and his beloved Angie. RIP Ryan, I love you buddy.'
©Passenger: Zachery Hartwell (right) was killed in Dunn's fatal car crash yesterday. The pair were at a bar with an unidentified friend in Philadelphia before the accident
Dunn also starred in the yet-to-be-released film Living Will. The film's website describes Dunn's character as a 'party bum slacker (who) returns from the dead as a mischievous and perverted ghost'.
MTV praised Dunn's tireless humour and enthusiasm and said he would be missed.
'We are devastated by the tragic loss of Ryan Dunn - a beloved member of the MTV family for more than a decade,' said Van Toffler, president of MTV Networks Music/Films Group. 'The Jackass brotherhood will never be the same.'
Dunn was born in Ohio and moved at 15 to Pennsylvania, where he met Bam Margera on his first day of high school, according to a biography on his website.
Dunn, Margera, Christopher Raab (known as Raab Himself) and Brandon DiCamillo, under the moniker CKY for 'Camp Kill Yourself', started making videos that featured them skateboarding and performing stunts.
©Where the night started: Dunn and Hartwell were both at Barnaby's in West Chester hours before the accident
Dunn was working as a welder and petrol station worker when Knoxville, a friend of Margera's through the skateboarding circuit, asked the crew to allow their videos to be part of the series Jackass, which became a hit on MTV and ran from 2000 to 2002.
Perhaps his most famous stunt, in 2002's Jackass: The Movie, involved inserting a toy car into his bottom and going to a hospital casualty unit, where he made up a story that he was in mysterious pain after passing out at a fraternity party. Dunn's X-ray from the hospital became a popular T-shirt for Jackass fans.
In a 2000 stunt, he dived into a tank at a raw sewage plant wearing flippers, a mask and a snorkel.

Heritage: Four arrested trying to sell priceless Minoan statuette
Greek authorities on Friday announced the arrest of four people in Iraklio, Crete on charges of attempting to sell a priceless 3,500-year-old statuette of a young man, dated to the mid-Minoan era for the princely sum of one million euros.

the Greek authorities [Credit: Anatoli Online]

The 30cm-high bronze statuette is of a young man in worship, his hands folded across his chest, making it a unique find of its type throughout the island of Crete.

The figure has long hair, a gold-plated belt and remains of gold leaf on its calves and left knee.

At the base is a peg indicating that it was probably set on a pedestal in an area of worship. Archaeologists at the Lasithi Antiquities Ephorate have dated the statuette to the 16-15 century B.C.

The case was cracked as a result of a coordinated Hellenic Police (ELAS) operation that culminated in the arrests of four men, two aged 35 and two aged 41 years old.

Police initially stopped one of the 35-year-olds driving a car, in which they found an ancient bronze artifact. The other three men were following behind in two private trucks and also arrested.

The police inquiry revealed that the suspects had illegal possession of the statuette and that two of them had shown this to unknown prospective buyers, while the other two were acting as lookouts along the route.

The statuette was handed over the antiquities ephorate and the car confiscated as evidence, while police are continuing the inquiry.

The four suspects were led to the Lasithi misdemeanors' court prosecutor.

  • Feeling a bit posh? Frankie Sandford sports new elfin crop hairstyle just like Victoria Beckham's old do

Feeling a bit posh? Frankie Sandford sports new elfin crop hairstyle just like Victoria Beckham's old do
©New do? Frankie Sandford showed off a short pixie crop hairstyle as she arrived at Kiss FM studios in London earlier today
Her side parting short bob has been her signature hairstyle for a while now but yesterday Frankie Sandford decided it was time for a change.
The Saturdays singer, 22, paid a visit to the salon and showed off her super-short pixie crop as she arrived at Kiss FM earlier today.
Frankie’s new elfin-inspired hair, echoed Victoria Beckham’ short do seen in 2008, although the Saturdays singer was sporting a slightly longer fringe.
The singer, who is currently dating footballer Wayne Bridge, was dressed in a short striped navy, white and peach dress with a suede dark brown leather jacket.
She finished off her look with a pair of oversized sunglasses and a pair of brown peep-toe ankle boots.
Frankie arrived at the radio station with her bandmate Una Healy, who was bright in a strapless tangerine-coloured maxi dress with gladiator sandals.
©WAG style: The Saturdays singer appeared to have taken some inspiration from Victoria Beckham's short crop which she displayed in 2008
The girls had made a pit stop to pick up breakfast and a coffee ahead of their radio appearance.
Frankie has recently spoken out about her relationship with footballer Wayne, who she has been dating since January, and believes Waynecan be trusted and won't stray.
She told More Magazine: 'You can’t ever say for sure that someone would never do that, but Wayne’s different.
©Summer style: Frankie and her bandmate Una Healy were seen looking lovely as they arrived at a radio studio
'We don’t hang out with other players, and I’m not really interested in being a WAG.
We’ve both had past relationships that were in the public eye.
'This is more private, and so much nicer. Things are going really well. I’m so happy.'
The Saturdays have been busy this week and yesterday the girls sported a whole host of summery looks as they arrived at the BBC Radio 1’s live lounge Maida Vale studios to record a session.
©Out with the old: Frankie decided to change her signature side bob style into a shorter crop
©Anybody in? Frankie was seen knocking on the window of the building before she was let in with her fellow Saturdays
The band also have a number of television appearances in the next couple of weeks before they take to the festival circuit this summer.
They're on Graham Norton's chat show this Friday, before T4 on Saturday and both Daybreak and Lorraine on Monday.
©Mixed styles: Rochelle donned a pretty peach dress with a patterned scarf while Mollie wore the same printed T-shirt that Frankie wore yesterday
They're gearing up to release their next single All Fired Up ahead of the release of their as yet untitled third album later this year, ahead of their All Fired Up Tour in December.

  • Who's the inspiration today Cher? Miss Lloyd appears to be channeling her inner Hilda Odgen at Heathrow

Who's the inspiration today Cher? Miss Lloyd appears to be channeling her inner Hilda Odgen at Heathrow
    By SARAH FITZMAURICE
©Sack the stylist? Cher Lloyd appeared to be channeling her inner Hilda Ogden at Heathrow yesterday with a pair of blue dungarees and a bandanna
She is often seen trying to emulate the style of her former X Factor mentor Cheryl Cole but it seems that yesterday she was taking inspiration from a much more unlikely source.
In fact, Cher Lloyd appeared to be channeling her inner Hilda Ogden as she arrived at Heathrow yesterday.
The petite singer was dressed in a pair of pale blue dungarees a grey jumper and had her hair tied up with a bandanna placed across it.
The wannabe was dressed was also wearing thick gold earrings and a pair of rose printed Dr Martin boots which made for a bizarre combination but with a distinct look taken from the Coronation street character.
The petite singer appears to be constantly experimenting with her style and doesn’t appear to have found her signature style just yet.
©Could be twins? The 17-year-old's appearance looked similar to Coronation Street's Hilda Odgen's style
She is not only a fan of donning interesting clothing but has gone under the tattoo needle no less than eight times and has covered her frame in interesting inkings.
Cher, who found fame on the X Factor last year coming fourth behind Matt Cardle, Rebecca Ferguson and One Direction, has been busy working on her debut album.
©Rising star? Cher was jetting out of London yesterday as she finishes the final touches to her debut album
Earlier this month the teenager posted a video of herself auditioning dancers for her debut music video working hard to ensure that they ‘gel’ with her.
In the video, Cher says: 'The auditions are going really well. I'm really glad there's bedroom dancers as well.
'I'm looking for fresh-faced people, just people that mix in with the crowd and just back me up really.'

  • Italy: Pompeii's 'Cave Canem' mosaic restored

Italy: Pompeii's 'Cave Canem' mosaic restored
He is one of the world's most famous dogs, the snarling, black-and-white mosaic canine and protector of the Pompeii archaeological site.

    Pompeii's 'Cave Canem' mosaic restored

House of the Tragic Poet [Credit: ANSA]

Indeed, with his black hair, curled form, and bared teeth, the ancient canine has stood ready for almost 2,000 years to discourage intruders from setting foot in the Domus of the Tragic Poet, supported by the famous inscription 'Cave Canem' or 'Beware of the Dog'.

Now, this universal symbol of the city that was preserved under the ash of Mt. Vesuvius in 79 AD has been restored and returned to the public eye in the archaeological remains of Pompeii.

Years of rain, mud, dirt and neglect were gradually cleaned away to bring him back to public viewing just in time for the dog days at the end of July.

The work on the mosaic canine is just one in a series of measures aimed at restoring and protecting Pompeii, a UNESCO World Heritage Site, for future generations, said Culture Minister Dario Franceschini.

In a post on his Twitter feed, he wrote: "Offered to the public the splendid new staging of Cave Canem". "(At) #Pompei, every day a proud step forward," wrote the minister.

The canine mosaic is now protected beneath a transparent cover designed to allow full public viewing of the mosaic mutt, with his great sense of movement as well as the realism and attention to detail that has made it one of the world's best known of the Pompeian masterpieces. Other restored works as well as extended tourist routes through the archaeological site should also be offered soon, officials suggested.

Work has been continuing at Pompeii, which for decades was neglected and even plundered due to slack security and poor protection.

At some points, the United Nations even threatened to withdraw its UNESCO World Heritage Site designation unless adequate money was invested to restore and protect Pompeii.

But, slowly things seem to be turning around.

In March Pompeii's largest house - Villa dei Misteri, famous for its frescoes of the cult of Bacchus - reopened after a two-year restoration and a three-month closure for work on its paving.

"We have behind us a year of extraordinary work," Franceschini said at that time.

"We have closed three work sites while another 13 have been opened, nine contracts have been started and we have hired 85 people". Almost precisely one year earlier, Franceschini pledged the Italian government would catch up on delays in restoring the Pompeii archaeological site and treat completing the ambitious 105-million-euro Great Pompeii Project as a "national challenge".

"The challenge of Pompeii is a challenge for the nation," Franceschini said, reiterating the importance of the Great Pompeii Project, aimed at safeguarding the unique site.

The European Commission, involved in funding the project, has insisted that the restoration work must be completed by the end of 2015.

    There is some urgency.

In April 2014, heavy rains led to several reports of collapsed walls at the Pompeii site, soon after UNESCO warnings that the miraculously preserved ancient city could "completely fall apart" and lose its world heritage status unless urgent action was taken.

After a long day of public appearances, President Obama and US First Lady Michelle were treated to a state banquet at Buckingham Palace, hosted by the Queen tonight.
The star-studded banquet saw 171 guests arrive, including Tom Hanks, Kevin Spacey and Tim Burton, who dined on lamb, roast potatoes and vanilla Charlotte.
Also at Her Majesty’s banquet in honour of the Obamas were David Cameron, Nick Clegg and Boris Johnson.
Former Prime Ministers Tony Blair and Gordon Brown also attended, as did Ed Miliband, Richard Branson and Helena Bonham Carter.
Hollywood actor Hanks sat next to Ffion Hague, the wife of the Foreign Secretary, while Kevin Spacey was beside Sophie, the Countess of Wessex – wife of Prince Edward.

Michelle Obama and the Queen both wore white gowns to the event, while President Obama opted for a traditional black suit that boasted a white bow tie and matching shirt.
The First Lady accessorised her gorgeous floor-length gown with long white gloves and dangling earrings, while her hair was tied neatly up into a bun.

As the Queen welcomed the Obamas, she said: ‘Today the US remains our most important ally. But our relationship goes far beyond our military ties.’
She celebrated the special relationship between the US and Great Britain and highlighted their ‘shared history, common language and strong intellectual and cultural links’, during her welcome speech.
Her Majesty said she had ‘fond memories’ of first meeting the Obamas in 2009 at the G20 conference in London.
The lavish dinner was hosted in the Palace’s ballroom, where the Prince of Wales hosted the private meal for 300 on the evening of the royal wedding.

Earlier in the day the Obamas had visited Number Ten after laying a wreath on the tomb of an unknown soldier at Westminster Abbey.
It is the couple’s first state visit to Britain and are staying at Buckingham Palace, instead of having to face an ordinary five star hotel.
They arrived last night after their visit to Ireland and will spend tonight and tomorrow night in the luxurious Belgian Suite of Palace, which is the same suite Prince William and Kate spent their first night as a married couple.
Despite not attending the Royal Wedding last month, the President and his wife met up with Prince William and his new bride today and talked for around 15 minutes with the newly-weds.
On the Obama’s arrival, they were greeted with a 41-gun salute alongside The Queen, Prince Philip, Prince Charles and Camilla, Duchess of Cornwall.
