In 2013 adidas and Yohji Yamamoto celebrate ten years of Y-3, a collaboration based on seeming opposites combining adidas’ sports technology and Yohji Yamamoto’s style aesthetic. the communication campaign for Spring/Summer 2013 captures the essence of Y-3, led by photographer and director Pierre Debusschere, the campaign explores the partnership of the opposed – the transmission of ideas from the two worlds of Japan and Germany.
Pierre Debusschere’s photographs are a celebration of motion and exploration of movement that draws on the bold colors and graphic lines of the collection. Through the use of visual effects, the photographs have been distorted to provide a palpable sense of kinetic energy to the images.
The Spring/Summer 2013 campaign film is an evolution of these themes - study of movement, distortion and transformation. Through a cutting edge interactive online interface located on the Y-3 website, the user will be able to engage with the video content and through manipulation of sound and image will create their own video clips to share online with others. In addition, Y-3 commissioned Tim Hecker, noted as one of the most preeminent figures currently making ambient music, to compose an original work exclusively for the Spring/Summer 2013 interactive video. As with much of Tim's work this piece plays with notion of variations on a theme, resulting in individual loops which shift and pulse in time with the visual effects of the campaign film.
Y-3Can anyone tell us when the sun is coming up? 18,000 gather at a cloudy Stonehenge for all-night summer solstice party
By DAILY MAIL REPORTER Grey daybreak: Warmly-dressed revellers watch the sun rise for the summer solstice after a cold night at Stonehenge in Wiltshire
Tens of thousands of revellers gathered at Stonehenge for an all-night party to celebrate the longest day of the year this morning - despite grey clouds that obscured the sunrise.
English Heritage say 18,000 revellers descended on the site that is usually roped off to the public to witness dawn at exactly 4.43am.
The event is significant for druids, who were joined by hippies, pagans and tourists as well as hordes of younger visitors in search of a good party.Prayers for peace: A druid welcomes the sun, left, while another strums in the summer on her guitar. Despite the gloom, the sunrise was greeted with cheers and songs
Waiting for the sun: Crowds gather in darkness at Stonehenge. There were around 18,000 revellers there to greet the dawn
However the number of people who camped out overnight or arrived early to witness the dawn was down on previous years because of the poor weather and the solstice falling on a weekday.
There was no beautiful sunrise into clear blue skies - heavy overnight rain gave way to overcast but dry skies as the sun rose, greeted by cheering and applause.
The self-styled King Arthur Pendragon, the veteran druid who led the event, said it had passed off smoothly. Here comes the sun: Revellers cheer as the sun finally breaks through the clouds, more than a couple of hours after daybreak
'It is great to see the stones being used in this way, as opposed to the usual manner with tourists being herded around.'
Stonehenge, which is between 4,000 and 5,000 years old, has in past years been the site of confrontations between revellers and police.
But Superintendent Gavin Williams, of Wiltshire Police, said the majority of the crowd this year were well-behaved and 'came to see the sunrise in the spirit of the event', which was policed in the same way as night spots in the county. However, two men were photographed fighting at the event.
Of the 20 arrests, 11 were for drugs offences and five for public order offences. In addition, 47 drug seizures were made.Light in the East: Revellers surround the ancient stones as dawn breaks. Celebrations centre on the Heelstone, which is aligned with the midsummer sunrise
Leading the ceremony: Chief druid King Arthur Pendragon leads incantations during the summer solstice ceremony
Through the ages: Brightly dressed druids greet the solstice, left, and a very young initiate touches the ancient stones. The stone circle is usually roped off to visitors
Mr Williams said: 'Although it was disappointing that some individuals chose to bring drugs with them, they were dealt with robustly.'
English Heritage, which manages the Stonehenge site on Salisbury Plain in Wiltshire, said the atmosphere had been 'peaceful and good natured'.
The annual event is a modern take on solstice celebrations which were once a highlight of the pre-Christian calendar. Celebrations focus on the Heelstone, which sits just outside the main circle, and is aligned with the midsummer sunrise.
The solstice is one of the few times access is granted inside the stone circle, which has been roped off since 1978 following years of erosion and vandalism.
Stonehenge's origins remain a mystery, but one theory is that it is a huge astronomical calendar. Others say an ancient sun-worshipping culture aligned the structure with the midsummer sunrise and the midwinter sunset.
The World Heritage site was used as a cremation cemetery since its inception, archaeologists say, but it is unclear if that was its principal function.
It was build in three phases, with stones brought from up to 150 miles away, between 3000 BC and 1600 BC .

There are things I miss working in a costume archive...
Surprisingly, I miss the smell of mothballs and rotting, moldy fabric. I miss how cold and dark it would be on a hot, summer day. But what I miss the most is the amazing surprise each box would be as uncovered some amazing suit made in Paris or a box just overflowing with heirloom styled petticoats. Do you know how much restraint it took me not to try anything on? lol! Yes, big no-no indeed!
The San Fransisco Museum is having a exhibition on the great couturier Balenciaga. Now, I honestly only knew of this designer in high school from the infamous Balenciaga motorcycle bag that all my friends covereted. Now everyone has a copy hanging from their arm. It wasn't until my great discovery of couture that I realized how beautiful his work was.
Back from spring break and now overwhelmed with work...
I have three major papers to write this week and not much on the sewing front has been completed. I've been knitting a bit, a row here and there. Sometimes I get quite a lot done in a sitting, but then sometimes I maybe knit just a row before my hands get tired. Though, over break I was super excited to finish up my first ball and move onto the second.
Happy Memorial Day
Last night my father invited me to a BBQ up in the mountains. I got my kitchen supplies and drove as fast as I could. There is something about the mountains, the air is crisper and the colors are more vibrant. I made my spicy barbecue bean burgers and an anti-pasta salad. We had the traditional corn on the cob, which we left on the grill too long and blackened on the bottom. I took some shots of the farm valley between my father's home and my mothers on the drive back, I just missed the sunset but it still is just as beautiful at twilight. Soon, around July and August, the fields will be lite with fireflies and I promise when it happens I'll take plenty of pictures.
So, everything is unpacked and I'm back to work...
I can officially call it summer. However, most of my peers won't call it summer until Memorial Day. What a perfect time to start on some cotton, floral frocks! I just finished Simplicity's 2250 by Cynthia Rowley. I did a few adjustments, such as doing a muslin lining, omitting the tie, and elastic in the ruffles. All the fabric manipulation in the top isn't visible in the white cotton. I do think it would show better in a dark color where you can see the contrast if you're focused on that detail. It's intermediate, at best. The top takes a bit of finesse doing all those tucks. It resembles a bit of a puzzle piece, it took a bit of marking and basting. But, if you have patience and can follow directions it might be the best challenge to a experienced beginner.
The back ruffles are a great detail...
You might be able to tell that I only attached the zipper to the underlining. It's something we do at work all the time when there is a light overlay like organza or chiffon. It keeps it nice and light, doesn't add bulk, and makes the zipper sit well when you're using a lining.

DENIS GAGNONFeeling a bit posh? Frankie Sandford sports new elfin crop hairstyle just like Victoria Beckham's old do
New do? Frankie Sandford showed off a short pixie crop hairstyle as she arrived at Kiss FM studios in London earlier today
Her side parting short bob has been her signature hairstyle for a while now but yesterday Frankie Sandford decided it was time for a change.
The Saturdays singer, 22, paid a visit to the salon and showed off her super-short pixie crop as she arrived at Kiss FM earlier today.
Frankie’s new elfin-inspired hair, echoed Victoria Beckham’ short do seen in 2008, although the Saturdays singer was sporting a slightly longer fringe.
The singer, who is currently dating footballer Wayne Bridge, was dressed in a short striped navy, white and peach dress with a suede dark brown leather jacket.
She finished off her look with a pair of oversized sunglasses and a pair of brown peep-toe ankle boots.
Frankie arrived at the radio station with her bandmate Una Healy, who was bright in a strapless tangerine-coloured maxi dress with gladiator sandals.WAG style: The Saturdays singer appeared to have taken some inspiration from Victoria Beckham's short crop which she displayed in 2008
The girls had made a pit stop to pick up breakfast and a coffee ahead of their radio appearance.
Frankie has recently spoken out about her relationship with footballer Wayne, who she has been dating since January, and believes Waynecan be trusted and won't stray.
She told More Magazine: 'You can’t ever say for sure that someone would never do that, but Wayne’s different.Summer style: Frankie and her bandmate Una Healy were seen looking lovely as they arrived at a radio studio
'We don’t hang out with other players, and I’m not really interested in being a WAG.
We’ve both had past relationships that were in the public eye.
'This is more private, and so much nicer. Things are going really well. I’m so happy.'
The Saturdays have been busy this week and yesterday the girls sported a whole host of summery looks as they arrived at the BBC Radio 1’s live lounge Maida Vale studios to record a session.Out with the old: Frankie decided to change her signature side bob style into a shorter crop
Anybody in? Frankie was seen knocking on the window of the building before she was let in with her fellow Saturdays
The band also have a number of television appearances in the next couple of weeks before they take to the festival circuit this summer.
They're on Graham Norton's chat show this Friday, before T4 on Saturday and both Daybreak and Lorraine on Monday.Mixed styles: Rochelle donned a pretty peach dress with a patterned scarf while Mollie wore the same printed T-shirt that Frankie wore yesterday
They're gearing up to release their next single All Fired Up ahead of the release of their as yet untitled third album later this year, ahead of their All Fired Up Tour in December.

As we had previously mentioned, Jamey Jasta (Hatebreed, Kingdom Of Sorrow) has a solo album coming out on July 26 via EONE Music and just by hearing this new track he recorded with the almighty Zakk Wylde (Black Label Society), we're pretty sure that this album will be another hit for the hardest working man in Heavy Music.
The birth of "Jasta" is a result of Jamey having so much music to share, that he decided to produce another project. Some may ask why the hell is he starting another project? Well, Jasta felt that with so many songs that he has created throughout the years that didn't make it into either Hatebreed or Kingdom of Sorrow, that it would dope for the fans to get some new material this summer. Jasta's new project will be released this summer via EONE Music and it will feature a bunch of special guests.
A diverse variety of guest appearances can be found on this record. Tim Lambesis (AS I LAY DYING), pro skater Mike Vallely, Philip Labonte (ALL THAT REMAINS), Randy Blythe and Mark Morton (LAMB OF GOD) and guitar god ZAKK WYLDE just to name a few.
Without further due here is "The Fearless Must Endure", featuring Jamey Jasta and Zakk Wylde:
Here is an interview we did with Jamey Jasta at the Revolver Golden Gods Awards, in which we discuss his new solo album:

Another something just for me...
A quick and easy summer skirt made up in a "New York" themed print. I am not usually drawn to buying themed fabrics but this one seemed to stand out to me as one that would make a unique skirt. If it had a New Zealand theme or Kiwiana theme I would have steered well clear so if you're from the US I can understand if it's not your cup of tea.Anyway I'm really pleased with how this skirt came out and how quickly it came together as it took only 2 - 3 hours to whip up. It is quite a flattering style that sits nicely on my hips and therefore not cutting into my waist. The only thing I changed is to make it a little shorter so it comes to my knees. For a bit of added interest I added some mini blue ric-rac around the bottom edge of the top band and normal sized red ric-rac around the hemline. I used an invisible zipper on the side seam using this tutorial which shows just how easy these zippers are to install. The pattern is "New Look" no.6595 if you're interested in making this skirt too. Now all I need is a couple of tops or three to go with it!
