    Zig Zag Quilt Along
    Sewing
I'm starting another quilt along, this time I am going for a queen sized quilt for my bed.
It is in the same flickr group from The Old Red Barn Co.'s first quilt along.

    Sewing
This time it is a zig zag quilt and I am using all vintage fabrics from my stash. I am behind a week, but hopefully I can catch up, I think I get it done faster if I keep up!
  • Quilt blocks

    Quilt blocks
Sewing A couple months ago I won a membership to Patchwork Posse (thanks again Becky!)
One of the things we are doing in the group is a quilt along. I had decided to shop in my stash for this quilt along and I want it to be scrappy and yummy.

Sewing Last night I decided to do the first two blocks and I am in LOVE with them! I can't wait for the next blocks!
Did I mention I really, really, really love these?
    I do, I love them.

I wanted to share my progress on my quilt for Oh, Fransson! quilt along.
It has been a learning experience for me as I am new to quilting and Elizabeth's instructions are awesome. I have the first half of the blocks done, and let me tell you I am glad to be done with the ones on the right with what seemed like a million little squares :)

Has anyone ever left their iron plugged in all night? I would never, ever do anything like that, especially being a fireman's wife :)

Oh! I just wanted to share, because I was kindof excited. I had kinda made a goal for my self to hit before any of my shows started, that I would reach 200 sales in my etsy shop and pass 300 people hearting my shop, and I did it!
  • Pinwheels!

    Pinwheels!
Sewing My pinwheel quilt just came out of the dryer and it is oh so yummy! I love it! There is something about these colors together that I just adore.
This was for the pinwheel quilt along over in the Old Red Barn quilt along group.
I had three helpers to hold it up for me :)

Sewing Here's the back, I used a vintage sheet.
Sorry things have been quiet around here. My new niece Hallie doesn't have to have surgery yet, she still has to have surgery, they are just waiting a bit, and it's not as bad as they first were saying, I saw her yesterday for the first time and she is so tiny, I always forget how tiny newborn babies are, to think that my girls were once that tiny is crazy.
I haven't really felt like blogging. Trying to get ready for spring shows and keeping my house clean and trying to take time for me has been consuming my time. Then of course the other various things that always seem to pop up in life :)

I joined the 9-patch quilt along at Crazy Mom Quilts. She is one of the most amazing quilter's whose work i have ever seen. She is also one of the most prolific. I am regularly amazed at her beautiful quilts! You should go and check out her blog. I was not sure what color i was going to use but before I knew it the colors took on a life of their own...so it is going to be blue/green/pink/yellow and colors of that variety...bright and fun. This does not make this the most scrap friendly quilt but it is enabling me to make a small dent in my stash without using up my favorite fabrics all at once. I am loving the simplicity of the 9 patch. I am making two at a time, using the two coordinating fabrics to make opposite blocks. Now this has unintentionally put me ahead of the challenge of making one a day(this is day 8 and i have 14)...but i know me and at some point i will not have the time or the chance to make one so i am storing up, you might say. My need to match is getting in my way a little, but I am trying hard to let go of that! But for right now....i can not help myself i just keep making them and making them. I can not wait to see the end product this summer when the quilt along ends. I will be back with some block updates from time to time.

First finished quilt and other stuff.
    Sewing
I finished, I finished! It just came out of the dryer and I LOVE it!
My very first all the way finished quilt!
Sorry, I had to take a picture of it in the shade, it was way too sunny on the wall I like to take pictures on.

    Sewing
The back is even cute! Now what quilt shall I finish next?
Maybe my Mod Sampler. I just have to put the outside sashing pieces on it and piece the back for it.

We weeded, tilled, and planted our garden on Saturday! We timed it perfect, as soon as we got done, it started sprinkling a bit. It might seem really late, but this is Utah people :) I think our last frost date is something like May 15th. I love having a garden even though I still don't really know what I am doing. We planted tomatoes for tomato basil sauce, little tiny orange tomatoes, which are my fave, three different kinds of peppers, beans, cucumbers, basil, thyme, and some marigolds. At the back, we have a row of raspberry bushes that we planted last year that are doing really well, we had a couple die last year after we transplanted them from my parent's, but we had quite a few shoots this year that we moved, hopefully they will work, we should have moved them a couple of months ago. We also have oregano and chives.

    Sewing
And we have a friend in the garden too. Yesterday we took the kid's to A Night at the Museum, the kids liked it, it was a good show. All in all we had a nice weekend, which was needed, we had a crappy thing happen last week that effects our family in a big way, but we are okay. This is where I should insert that our little family is amazingly blessed because we are, even when crappy situations get thrown at us. Enough of that, on to the happy quilt!

    Sewing
Today I cut my strips for Dana's quilt along. I'm so glad I chose these fabrics, I love them.
Now I must go for I have children in need of being picked up from school soon.
I hope you had a nice Memorial day weekend!

  • Blogger's Quilt Festival

    Blogger's Quilt Festival

When i was thinking about what quilt to enter into quilt festival i asked my husband which quilt did he like best. His vote was for my Wee Play quilt. It was definitely one of the ones in the running when i was trying to choose. So his vote it is!!!

    seving
This quilt does not have a special story to go along with it, we just love it, and it gets a pretty fair amount of use in our house, especially by the kids. It is always hanging over the arm of the couch waiting for someone to need it.

    seving
I think my favorite thing about it is the way the colors are arranged! A little rainbow in your day is always in order. The quilting is just straight lines, about a 1/4 inch off the seams. It is simple but simple is what makes it beautiful.

    seving
Some of you, who have read my blogs before may recognize it. If you have not seen it before you can see it in progress with more pictures here, and here and finished here. And if you are here visiting from quilt festival please come and take a look at some of the other quilts i have made, here. Be sure to look at all the other links at Amy's blog....there are many and that can be overwhelming...take a few days if you have to, it will be so worth it. You will get loads of inspiration and you might find your new favorite quilting blog. I guarantee you that what you see will take your breath away!

    Liar liar pants on fire
    Sewing
So I pretty much lied about taking a break :) What can I say? when I get excited about something I have to share it.
So earlier today I mentioned the quilt along at Crazy Mom Quilts.
I already knew what fabrics I wanted to use, so I pulled them all out today. They are all Tracy Porter fabrics, which is pretty much my favorite fabric, I am sad she isn't doing anymore for Joann's, but as I pulled it all out today, I realized I have quite a bit of it, so it should last me a long time. In fact I counted them all and I have 50 different prints, and I am using them all for this quilt, it is going to be yummy.

SewingI've only done three blocks, but I think I am in love with this quilt already.
And no I haven't finished my mod sampler quilt yet, or the other two quilt tops I have done, they will get done someday soon :)

Sorry I was a liar about taking a break, I really didn't mean to be, I had kindof a bad day yesterday, I think alot had to do with hormones, I am feeling much better today :)
  • My fabrics for the quilt along

My fabrics for the quilt along
    Sewing

Confession: I hoard fabric. Specifically what I call expensive fabric.
I just want to look at it and feel it, but really I should be using it to make awesome things.
So I made myself pick out expensive fabrics from my stash for the Quilt along.
There is even japanese fabric in there, see the little bicycles? And yes that is the only one that is not floral like. I haven't picked out the back yet, I'll probably use some of my vintage linens.
  • Let the sashing begin

    Let the sashing begin
    Sewing
I got a little behind on my quilt along. Today I finished up the blocks, and now I am ready to do the sashing. I am scared of the sashing, we'll see how I do. You can see my sashing fabric at the bottom. I have learned alot with this quilt along, one of the things being that I am kindof an impatient quilter. The more complicated squares I love the end result, but making them, not so much :) I'm getting really excited to finish this.

    Quilting Bug
    Sewing
I've caught some kind of quilting bug, and I have already started Christmas presents, I will not say for who just in case they are reading this. This one is just scraps basically or fabric that I wanted used up. My husband thinks I'm nuts, he may be right :)
Other quilts in progress or planning stages:
*A queen size for my bed with Anna Maria Horner's Good Folks which I am
    completely smitten with.
    * The Quilt along quilt
    * One quilt for each of my girls (that is 3 twin size quilts)
    * Putting together my blocks for my quilt from A Notion or Two
    * And still a few more like the one in the picture above

What do you think, am I crazy?
  • Finished Quilt!

    Finished Quilt!
Sewing I finished it, I finished it! This was round 4 of the ORBC quilt along. That's really good for me, I started this thing on Friday, and finished it up last night! Did I work on any of the other 8 quilts I have started? No, I started this whole new one :)

    SewingI love this quilt.

    Sewing
Now I just need to get it in the wash to make it all crinkly and yummy.
In other news, I have decided to claim back my weekends. I will not work on the weekends anymore! Weekends are for sewing whatever I please, now maybe I will get those other 8 quilts done :)
Also, I have had a couple people ask about where they can purchase a wallet. I am going to take some pictures today and do a small update in the shop probably later today!

    Candy dish quilt top!

I got my top for Dana's quilt along done! Dana said it looks like a dish full of candy, which it does, so now this quilt has a name! Luckily it stopped raining long enough to take a picture outside.

And look at my cute new shoes! 9 bucks at Ross, gotta love it!

I finished quilting my quilt along quilt! For my second attempt at machine quilting I feel pretty good about it, it's not perfect, but it works! Okay I just looked at the time and I stayed up way too late finishing it. I'm going to get the binding made so that I can finish it while I am sitting at the Farmer's Market on Saturday. Can you see the cute vintage sheet backing peeking out at the bottom?
I am in love with this quilt!

    Week 3 done!
    Sewing
.Sorry for the bad picture, what can I say it's 11 o'clock at night.
I was too excited not to post it before I put it in stacks to start sewing together.
Week 3 is done for Dana's quilt along! I wasn't sure if I would get it done in time, I really don't want to get behind. Looking at the picture I may switch a couple blocks around.
I am getting even more excited about this quilt, I absolutely adore it!
    It is one happy quilt!

I was able to take my vintage sheet quilt along with me to my sisters house this past week. I sewed my binding on here at home at the very last minute....so last minute that i finished sewing as we were walking out the door to drive away. Chris and the kids were already in the car. I wanted to have some hand sewing to do while i was there. My kids all but abandon me when we are in VA because their cousins are way more fun than me...so a mom has to have something to do!! I washed it today and put it out in the sun to dry...i love how it smells fresh out of the sun.

Many thanks to my little quilt displayers...despite their groaning and complaints that it was too heavy!! Trust me, it isn't! This is the first quilt that i have made that i have actually slept a night under. It is not more than lap size but perfect for a warm night....my feet hang out and stay cool. I love it!!!
    seving
And, i think i might have mentioned before that i was planning on using it as a picnic blanket but now that it is done i love it so much... I am not sure that i can let it be so used and possibly so dirty!! What am i to do?

    Quilt bug
Sewing Yesterday, I decided to start this quilt instead of tackling something on my list of things I need to get made. I picked out the fabrics for this almost 3 months ago for round 4 over at the Old Red Barn Co. quilt along group. I'd been staring at the pile of fabrics for awhile and finally decided it was time. I love it and can't wait to get it sewn together, I have to take a little break from it though, quilting is hard work I tell you, my body is feeling it!

SewingWhen I woke up, I found this little scene, Sage had cut them out from my leftover scraps while she was watching TV this morning, I think it is adorable.

SewingAnd here is a random photo I took earlier this week I forgot about. I finished up a batch of wallets.
    Have a nice weekend!

  • Getting ready

    Getting ready
    Sewing
I finished up a batch of wrist cuffs today, I am excited about these, I am very happy with how they turned out! I am getting my stock up for all my shows coming up! I added all my spring shows to the sidebar, I am doing three different shows , four different weekends so far!

    Sewing
I also cut the fabric for the front of my quilt along quilt today, look at all the pretty scraps!
  • Today

    Today
Sewing Today I am finishing adding ruffles to all of my pillowcase dresses. This one is my favorite so far, sweet vintage daisies and green polka dots, so cute!

SewingAnd I chose my fabrics for the Old Red Barn Co. pinwheel quilt along. I am going to make big 14.5 " pinwheels. I'm thinking the bigger I make them, the less the blocks I have to make and the faster I will get it done :) Plus I think big ole pinwheels will look awesome. I am going to go start cutting into my fabric now, I can't wait!
