Sewing The lovely Steph of Stephmodo, asked me to applique some napkins with cherries on them, and then we ended up doing some cute notebooks for favors for her youngest daughter's half birthday party. She brought the cutest cherry sucker she purchased in France, that she planned the party around. So cute! You can see more of the sweet party she planned here.

  • Shirts for me

    Shirts for me
Sewing I embellished this shirt today, it was super quick and I think it turned out super cute. The shirt I found on clearance at Target, and the quilt piece (which is hand pieced, I find that amazing) was given to me.

SewingAnd this is a shirt I embellished awhile ago and I love it. All I did for this one was find some flower print fabrics from my stash that I thought would work and cut flowers out and a few leaves, and then I like to use Steam a seam 2 for appliqueing. I like it because it is sticky on both sides and can be repositioned before ironing. I had been looking for the perfect striped shirt for awhile, and one day walked into Rue 21 and they had ones like this for $5, perfect.
Two one of a kind shirts for around $10 is my kind of project!

So, instead of ruffly aprons for the Easter baskets, I went with these necklaces, they took way less time than the aprons would have and I have a list too huge to tackle for all my upcoming shows. The tutorial I found on What did she do today she has a whole list of fun tutorials, here's the link directly to the fabric necklace tutorial. It was super quick, I think it took me about an hour to whip up all three of these. The best part was that it was sneaky crafting which made it kindof more exciting, my husband has been home today and I guess today was dubbed game day. So him and the kids were playing games and I was sneakily finishing up Easter basket gifts :) And now I declare that I am done!

So, what do you do when you are on a tight budget and realize that Easter is a week away?
Fill Easter baskets with handmade gifts! Which I think is better anyway.
    Sewing
I made these bunnies using this tutorial from My little mochi.
I just changed the face a bit. They are about 5 1/2 inches tall and I think I'm in love with them, I hope my daughters will be too.
I'll share all my other Easter basket filler projects this week too. Maybe if you are a procrastinator like I can be sometimes you'll get some ideas.

    A wardrobe for a doll
    Sewing
Kinsley's birthday was over the weekend. One of the things she requested was clothes for her American Girl doll. I decided she would also need somewhere to put all those clothes, so I modge podged a thrifted train case for her.

    Sewing
Not all the thrifted train cases I have found still have their little tray, this one did, it was perfect for shoes and accessories.

    Sewing
And the clothes fit perfect underneath.

I ended up buying a few things that I didn't want to make or couldn't make myself.

    Sewing
I ended up making two dresses. My favorite being the one on the right, I used a whole bunch of vintage lace and ribbons.

    Sewing
I made three different skirts, these were so much fun for me. Then I made a headband and a couple hair clips. And a bag with a little wallet.
I had to make myself stop making things, it was so much fun, and to see her face when she opened it up was priceless :)
  • I've gotten back to work!

    I've gotten back to work!
Sewing So, the girls went back to school on Monday and I have started building up my inventory again. I am excited for new ideas I have. I've been getting packages of supplies in the mail. Does anyone else get excited about crafting supplies? Hair barrettes, and earrings and headbands, oh my! (it's okay if you think I am a nerd ) :)

Sewing I am dying over how stinkin small and cute this size of barrette is, it's not much over an inch!
Please don't pay attention to my dry hands, Utah's winter weather is not nice to my skin!

also edited to add: after I posted this, my hand looked huge in the picture, well, it is a larger than life picture I guess. So I really don't have huge-o hands, just in case you were wondering :)

Sewing I embellished some girls shirts today. I think they turned out cute, ruffles and ric rac, yummy!
I gotten quite a bit done already this week, I really think I was ready to get back to work! I appliqued 60, yes 60 dish towels. And I also made a whole bunch of headbands. Up next on the list, women's shirts, I think those will be ruffly too!
