    Year end finishes
Sewing I finally put together my quilt top from A Notion or Two. I have had these blocks hanging around since my month in February :) I love them all together. I have to admit I am a bit scared to quilt this one, I'm just going to have to jump in and do it.
I have been taking a break from things, after all my holiday shows and getting ready for Christmas I was completely worn out and ready for a break. By a break I really mean I haven't been sewing things to sell. I have been working on unfinished projects that have been waiting to get done, and I have alot! I probably won't even get them all done, oh well!
I also feel like I need to finish things I started here. I'm going to finish posting about SPARK, San Francisco, and the presents I made for my kids for Christmas.
What is it about after Christmas that makes me want to clean up everything and start fresh for the new year? That is how I am feeling with everything in my life. We are still trying to get everything cleaned up and put away after Christmas, our kids always get too much, we have to get rid of things to fit the new stuff.
Speaking of getting rid of stuff, there is still alot of sale goodness in my shop, thanks for all that have purchased things! I have been trying to get rid of some things I had hanging around for awhile to make room for some new things I have ideas for. I actually am really excited to get back to work, but I have told myself that this week while the kids are still out of school, that I am also having a break.
I hope you all had a wonderful Christmas and I wish you a Happy New Year!

I had a ton of projects to finish for August! First up, I participated in Oh Hello Friend's lovely package exchange. Here is the package I put together for my partner. I love doing these swaps, I have so much fun putting a package together. Sadly, I forgot to take a picture of the box I sent it in, it was super cute I thought, I taped patterned papers all over it. This picture really only gives you a peek at some of the contents. Here is what I sent: a basketful of vintage fabrics, ribbons and buttons, a jar of jelly bellies, the coolest leather journal with gold birds stamped all over from Anthropologie, a wooden stick pencil, a painted sea shell necklace, a couple of vintage flower hair pins, and a headband.

Sewing Here are my pretty packages I received from Oni! Brown paper packages tied up in strings, these are a few of my favorite things.

Sewing Here is what was inside! Vintage cards, handmade cards, vintage sewing patterns, buttons, and the coolest handmade necklace! Thanks Oni. I love everything!

I also participated in Modern Jax's scrappy Christmas block swap.
I got the ones done for my teammates just in time to send yesterday, I still have the charity block to send on it's way today. These were fun and gave me an excuse to buy Christmas fabric :)

And here is Amy's block for a Notion or Two, I actually got this one done before my trip, but didn't get around to sending it until yesterday, shame on me. She'll probably get it today though, she doesn't live far from me.
I still have one more block for another quilting bee from August, I need to get my butt in gear today and make that one!

I finally got around to making July's block for Tara for A Notion or Two. She wanted an appliqued outfit for her block. So I came up with this dress, I even added some lace to it, I hope she likes it! Please ignore the fact that there is an upside down bird, I didn't realize he was there until I was all finished :)

This weekend was filled with the Farmer's Market, The Utah Arts Festival, shopping at The Bijou Market, watching Transformers, and lots and lots of sewing. I finished this square for The Stash Busting Bee, I was sent the turquoise flower fabric, and the rest is from my stash.

And I purchased this bike at the Bijou Market!!! I fell in love with it, it's new but looks vintage, and green my favorite color, so, so cute! I had to laugh at myself when I was test riding them, because I don't think I have ridden a bike since I was like 12 or 13. My husband has been teaching our kids to ride their bikes, and our next bike purchase will be for my husband, so we can go on family bike rides! I'm excited! I may even find a basket and a bell for it.

Now I must get back to my day, I have quite the list of things to tackle:
    *dishes
    *a batch of pillowcase dresses
    *work on a baby quilt
    *fold a batch of laundry
    *weed the garden
    *run a couple errands

    Have a great day!

This whole quilting bee thing is so much fun! I have been able to try new things that I might not try as a whole quilt. I have been wanting to try zig zags, I used this tutorial from Sometimes Crafter, but I pieced the blocks together using the alternate piecing method she links to.
This block is for Mommymae, she is making her 3 year old son a quilt with her blocks.
I had so much fun appliqueing the robot, I mostly do little girl stuff, and I LOVED the colors and fabrics she sent! You can check out what's going on at A Notion or Two here!

This block was for Russ, he asked us to make a 16 inch block that his daughter would like. I thought a star would be fun and it's something I have been wanting to try, I hope she likes it!
I am having so much fun be in A Notion or Two, I am learning so much!
I used this stars tutorial that I found via One Shabby Chick, which was alot easier and fun that I thought it would be. I think I will be doing more of these.

I finished up the block for Sarah today for a Notion or Two.
She let us do whatever we wanted, I loved her fabrics she sent, they are all bright and happy!
By the way, if you go to Sarah's blog she is having a sweet giveaway that is still open for a couple of days!

I have been super behind for A Notion or Two. I got almost caught up today. Now I only have one more block left, yay!
The first block is for Meridith.

The second block is for Allyn.

I don't know why it took me so long to sit down and get these done, but it feels good to almost be all caught up! I decided that this year I wouldn't participate in any bees or swaps, I just have too much going on and I needed to cut something out, they have been super fun though!
  • My second quilt block ever

    My second quilt block ever
Sewing I know the picture is a bit blurry, but I'm tired, so there, it looks better on Flickr for some reason.
Here's the quilt block I made for A Notion or two for myself. I had never made wonky log cabin squares before, so I went a bit crazy. Then it was like a puzzle as to how to piece them all together. And I embroidered a birdy. I haven't done much embroidery at all, so this was great practice. I think I can see more embroidery projects in the future.
